The Stormwatch

Or WEBSTER as we all know him! Webster was my second saddleseat mount (93-96) - at the time he was about 10-11 years old, a pretty chestnut gelding with a part-flaxen mane and tail.

He was quite a change after Danny , more advanced and a little less 'forgiving' of his rider's ability or non-ability. Webster, even though well trained, had not been ridden for a while and had quite the attitude about riders. He and I went through many battles but persistence and a good trainer/instructor prevailed. I learned so much from this horse! Mainly, that attitude - MY attitude - played a big part in how well or how poorly we worked together.

I showed "The Stormwatch", under the instruction of his owner, my trainer, Lisa Hermann, in local shows in Spartanburg, SC in 1994 and we ended up with many ribbons over that year plus a year end title of Reserve Champion 3-gaited pleasure. In 1995, he was sold to a new trainer, Clara Krause, and we took him to a few shows in Atlanta, Georgia including the Mid-Summer Classic. We always brought home ribbons.

Webster was sold in 1996 to a family in Atlanta. I understand that he still shows and that this his new owner and he have won many ribbons at Atlanta shows and that they have even shown him in harness! I will always have fond memories (some quite amusing) of the "Webman". And I will always remember him as the horse that taught me alot!. I am glad that I have a model of him to remember him by.
